The Host Checker ISO image file  is available in the LINTEL_PLATFORM bundle in the Sonus Salesforce Customer Portal.

Example of ISO file: hostchecker-V10.00.00R000-RHEL-06.04.03.00R000-x86_64.iso

Host Checker Utility can be executed for the following conditions:

  • Preliminary check before installing application–audit the physical host before installing the ISO image. This is not applicable for SBC.
  • Check during the installation process–Host Checker utility is integrated with the ISO images of all the Sonus products and will be executed during the time of installation.
  • Ad-hoc checks after an installation–audit the physical host after the products are installed and/or running.

Host Checker for PSX on HP DL380pGen8

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available for installing PSX on HP-DL380pGen8.

  • System memory is equal or more than 64GB
  • CPU is one of the following: E5-2658 (8 Core), E5-2660 (8 Core), and E5-2660 v2 (10 core)
  • Size of Hard disk is equal or more than the fully supported configuration
  • Number of Ethernet ports are equal or more than the fully supported configuration
  • Number of Power supply kits are equal or more than the fully supported configuration
  • Number of SAS ports are equal or more than the fully supported configuration (for HA)
  • ILO version is one of the supported version
  • BIOS version is one of the supported version (either 2.7 or 2.8)
  • HP-ACU version is one of the supported version
  • External RAID is available–valid for HA deployment and post-installation checks
  • SWAP size is equal or more than the minimum required–valid for post-installation checks

Host Checker for Netscore on HP DL380pGen8

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available for installing Netscore on HP-DL380pGen8.

  • System memory is equal or more than 64GB
  • CPU is one of the following: E5-2658 (8 Core), E5-2660 (8 Core), and E5-2660 v2 (10 core)
  • Size of Hard disk is equal or more than the fully supported configuration
  • Number of Ethernet ports are equal or more than the fully supported configuration
  • Number of Power supply kits are equal or more than the fully supported configuration
  • ILO version is one of the supported version
  • BIOS version is one of the supported version (either 2.7 or 2.8)
  • HP-ACU version is one of the supported version
  • SWAP size is equal or more than the minimum required-valid for post-installation checks

Host Checker for EMS on HP DL380pGen8

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available for installing EMS on HP-DL380pGen8.

  • System memory is equal or more than 32GB
  • CPU must be one of the following: (6 Core) E5-2620, and E5-2620 v2
  • Size of Hard disk is equal or more than minimum required
  • Number of Ethernet ports are equal or more than minimum required
  • Number of Power supply kits are equal or more than minimum required
  • Number of FC ports (for EMSRAC) or SAS ports (for EMSLEGACYHA) are equal or more than minimum required (for HA)

  • ILO version is one of the supported version
  • BIOS version is one of the supported version (2.7 or 2.8) 
  • HP-ACU version is one of the supported version
  • SWAP size is equal or more than the minimum required–valid for post-installation checks

Host Checker for ADS on HP DL380pGen8

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available for installing ADS on HP-DL380pGen8:

  • System memory is equal or more than 32GB
  • CPU must be E5-2620 (6 Core)
  • Size of Hard disk is equal or more than minimum required
  • Number of Ethernet ports are equal or more than minimum required

  • Number of Power supply kits are equal or more than minimum required

  • Number of FC ports for ADSRAC are equal or more than minimum required (for HA)

  • ILO version is one of the supported version

  • BIOS version is one of the supported version (either 2.7 or 2.8)

  • HP-ACU version is one of the supported version

  • SWAP size is equal or more than the minimum required-valid for post-installation checks

Host Checker for ASX on HP DL380pGen8

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available for installing ASX on HP-DL380pGen8.

  • System memory is equal or more than 32GB
  • CPU must be E5-2620 (6 Core)
  • Size of Hard disk is equal or more than minimum required
  • Number of Ethernet ports are equal or more than minimum required
  • Number of Power supply kits are equal or more than minimum required
  • ILO version is one of the supported version
  • BIOS version is one of the supported version (either 2.7 or 2.8)
  • HP-ACU version is one of the supported version

Host Checker for SBC on ESXi

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available for installing a fully supported SBC on ESXi:

  • Virtual machine memory is equal or more than 5GB
  • Number of vCPUs are equal or more than the recommended number
  • vCPU clock speed is equal or more than the recommended speed
  • Size of disk is equal or more than recommended
  • Number of virtual NICs are equal or more than recommended
  • CPU is an Intel processor

Host Checker for DSI L0/L1 on HP DL380pGen8

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available at minimum for installing DSI-L0/L1 on HP-DL380pGen8.

  • System memory is equal or more than 32GB
  • CPU must be one of the following: E5-2620 (6 core) and E5-2620 v2
  • Size of Hard disk is equal or more than minimum required
  • Number of Ethernet ports are equal or more than minimum required
  • Number of Power supply kits are equal or more than minimum required
  • ILO version is one of the supported version
  • BIOS version is one of the supported version (either 2.7 or 2.8)
  • HP-ACU version is one of the supported version
  • SWAP size is equal or more than the minimum required

Host Checker for DSI L2 on HP DL380pGen8

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available at minimum for installing DSI-L2 on HP-DL380pGen8.

  • System memory is equal or more than 32GB
  • CPU must be one of the following: E5-2620 (6 core) and E5-2620 v2
  • Size of Hard disk is equal or more than minimum required
  • Number of Ethernet ports are equal or more than minimum required
  • Number of Power supply kits are equal or more than minimum required
  • ILO version is one of the supported version
  • BIOS version is one of the supported version (either 2.7 or 2.8)
  • HP-ACU version is one of the supported version
  • SWAP size is equal or more than the minimum required–valid for post-installation checks

Host Checker for SGX4000 on HP DL380pGen8

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available for installing SGX on HP-DL380pGen8.

  • System memory is equal or more than 32GB
  • CPU must be one of the following: E5-2620 (6 Core) * 2 and E5-2620 v2
  • Size of Hard disk is equal or more than the fully supported configuration
  • Number of Ethernet ports are equal or more than the fully supported configuration
  • Number of Power supply kits are equal or more than the fully supported configuration
  • BIOS version is one of the supported version (either 2.7 or 2.8)
  • Verify that the two hard disks are in slots 1 and 2.
  • Detect whether any SS7 cards are present

Host Checker for PSX SWe

PSX SWe run only on servers using Intel processor.

KVM

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available for installing PSX Standalone (SA) on SWe (KVM).

  • vCPU: 4 cores
  • vMemory: 16 GB
  • Disk: 1 disk of 180 GB
  • vNIC: 1

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available for installing PSX High Availability (HA) on SWe (KVM).

  • vCPU: 4 cores
  • vMemory: 16 GB
  • vNIC = 5
  • vHDD:
    • 450 GB (VM1), 450 GB (VM2)
    • SAN: 480 GB
    • Additional Drives: 7 External Drives on storage array.

VMware

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available for installing PSX Standalone (SA) on SWe (VMware).

  • CPU: 4 cores
  • Memory: 16 GB
  • Disk: 1 disk of 180 GB
  • vNIC: 1

PSX SWe on a VMware does not support High Availability.

OpenStack

Host Checker is not required for PSX running in OpenStack as it is being deployed with QCOW2 image.

Host Checker for EMS SWe

EMS SWe run only on servers using Intel processor.

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available for installing EMS Standalone (SA) on SWe (KVM and VMware).

  • vCPU: 4 cores
  • vMemory: 8 GB
  • vDisk: 1 disk of 300 GB
  • vNIC: 1

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available for installing EMS High Availability (HA) on SWe (KVM and VMware).

  • vCPU: 4 cores
  • vMemory: 8 GB
  • vDisks: 3 disks: First disk could be on the local disk or on SAN. The 2 shared disks will be on SAN.
    • Disk #1: 250 GB (OS & EMS pkgs - see partition scheme below)
    • Disk #2: 60 GB (shared disk for EMS files)
    • Disk #3: 90 GB (shared disk for Oracle ASM files)
  • vNICs: 2 (1 Public + 1 Private)

DSI SWe run only on servers using Intel processor.

KVM

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available for installing DSI Standalone (SA) on SWe (KVM).

  • vCPU = 4
  • vMemory (GB) = 8
  • vDisk (GB) = 300
  • vNICs = 1

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available for installing DSI High Availability (HA) on SWe (KVM).

  • vCPU = 4
  • vMemory (GB) = 8
  • vDisk (GB) - 300 GB (VM1), 300 GB (VM2)

Host Checker for NetScore SWe

NetScore SWe run only on servers using Intel processor.

KVM

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available for installing NetScore Standalone (SA) on SWe (KVM).

  • vCPU = 2
  • vMemory (GB) = 32GB
  • vHDD (GB) = 332
  • vNIC = 1

VMware

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available for installing NetScore Standalone (SA) on SWe (VMware).

  • vCPU = 2
  • vMemory (GB) = 32GB
  • vHDD (GB) = 332
  • vNIC = 1

NetScore SWe does not support High Availability.

Telco Switch Verification

The host Checker tool checks if the Telco switch has been turned ON or not. The server needs to have iLO firmware version 1.20 installed for this to work properly. If the 1.20 version of iLO is not already installed then the operator should upgrade the firmware and then run the HostCheck script in standalone mode after the application ISO is installed.

CD-ROM Support on HP DL380pGen8

Sonus do not support CD-ROM drive on the servers, because the CD-ROM interferes with the application installation process. Users with CD-ROM need to physically remove or disable the CD-ROM from the BIOS before the application ISO installation.

The following error is displayed if a CD-ROM is present in the server during ISO installation:

Disabling CD-ROM on HP DL380pGen8 Server

Perform the following procedure to disable CD-ROM drive on HP DL380pGen8 server:

  1. Reboot the HP DL380pGen8 server.
  2. Press F9 to enter HP DL380pGen8s BIOS utility.

    The ROM-Based Setup Utility screen appears.

  3. Select PCI Device Enable/Disable option.

    The PCI Device Configuration screen appears.

  4. Select Embedded next to  the Inter (R) SATA Controller #1 option and press Enter.

  5. Select Disabled and press Enter.

    Ensure that the status of Inter (R) SATA Controller #1 shows Disabled.

  6. Press Esc to navigate back to main screen.

  7. Press Esc again and press F10 to save the changes and exit the BIOS utility.

    You have now disabled the CD-ROM drive on HP DL380pGen8 server.
