In this section:


The Host Checker ISO image file  is available in the LINTEL_PLATFORM bundle in the Ribbon Support Portal.

Example of ISO file: hostchecker-V12.01.00R000-RHEL-07.02.10.00R001-x86_64.iso

Execute the Host Checker utility for the following conditions:

  • Preliminary check before installing application: Audit the physical host before installing the ISO image. This is not applicable for the SBC.
  • Installation Process: Check if the Host Checker utility is integrated with the ISO images of all the Ribbon products and the same ISO images are executed during the PSX installation.
  • Ad-hoc Checks:  Audit the physical host after the products are installed and/or running.

For the Ribbon-recommended configuration, refer to Configuration Matrix.

Host Checker for PSX on HP DL380pGen8

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available to install the PSX on the HP-DL380pGen8 server:

  • The system memory is equal to, or greater than 64 GB
  • The CPU is one of the following: 
    • E5-2658 (8 Core)
    • E5-2660 (8 Core)
    • E5-2660 v2 (10 core)
  • The size of hard disk is equal to, or greater than, the fully-supported configuration.
  • The number of Ethernet ports are equal to, or greater than, the fully-supported configuration.
  • The number of Power supply kits are equal to, or greater than, the fully-supported configuration.
  • The number of SAS ports are equal to, or greater than, the fully-supported configuration (for HA).
  • The ILO version is supported.
  • The BIOS version is supported (either 2.7 or 2.8).
  • The HP-ACU version is supported.
  • The External RAID is available–valid for HA deployment and post-installation checks
  • The SWAP size is equal to, or greater than, the minimum required size – valid for post-installation checks.

Host Checker for EMS on HP DL380pGen8

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available to install the EMS on the HP-DL380pGen8 server:

  • The system memory is equal to, or greater than 32 GB.
  • The CPU is one of the following: 
    • (6 Core) E5-2620
    • E5-2620 v2
  • The size of Hard disk is equal to, or greater than, the minimum required.
  • The number of Ethernet ports are equal to, or greater than, the minimum required.
  • The number of Power supply kits are equal to, or greater than, the minimum required.
  • The number of FC ports (for EMSRAC) or SAS ports (for EMSLEGACYHA) are equal to, or greater than, the minimum required (for HA).

  • The ILO version is supported.
  • The BIOS version is supported (2.7 or 2.8).
  • The HP-ACU version is supported.
  • The SWAP size is equal to, or greater than, the minimum required–valid for post-installation checks.

Host Checker for SBC on ESXi

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available to install the SBC on ESXi:

  • The virtual machine memory is equal or more than 5 GB.
  • The number of vCPUs are equal to, or greater than, the recommended number.
  • The vCPU clock speed is equal to, or greater than, the recommended speed.
  • The size of disk is equal to, or greater than, the recommended.
  • The number of virtual NICs are equal to, or greater than, the recommended.
  • The CPU is an Intel processor.

Host Checker for DSI L0/L1 on HP DL380pGen8

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available at minimum to install DSI-L0/L1 on the HP-DL380pGen8 server:

  • The system memory is equal to, or greater than 32 GB.
  • The CPU is one of the following: 
    • E5-2620 (6 core)
    • E5-2620 v2
  • The size of Hard disk is equal to, or greater than, the minimum required.
  • The number of Ethernet ports are equal to, or greater than, the minimum required.
  • The number of Power supply kits are equal to, or greater than, the minimum required.
  • The ILO version is supported.
  • The BIOS version is supported (either 2.7 or 2.8).
  • The HP-ACU version is supported.
  • The SWAP size is equal to, or greater than, the minimum required.

Host Checker for DSI L2 on HP DL380pGen8

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available at minimum to install DSI-L2 on the HP-DL380pGen8 server:

  • The system memory is equal to, or greater than 32 GB.
  • The CPU is one of the following: 
    • E5-2620 (6 core)
    • E5-2620 v2
  • The size of Hard disk is equal to, or greater than, the minimum required.
  • The number of Ethernet ports are equal to, or greater than, the minimum required.
  • The number of Power supply kits are equal to, or greater than, the minimum required.
  • The ILO version is supported
  • The BIOS version is supported (either 2.7 or 2.8).
  • The HP-ACU version is supported.
  • The SWAP size is equal to, or greater than, the minimum required–valid for post-installation checks.

Host Checker for SGX4000 on HP DL380pGen8

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available to install the SGX on the HP-DL380pGen8 server:

  • The system memory is equal to, or greater than 32 GB.
  • The CPU is one of the following: 
    • E5-2620 (6 Core) * 2
    • E5-2620 v2
  • The size of Hard disk is equal to, or greater than, the fully supported configuration.
  • The number of Ethernet ports are equal to, or greater than, the fully supported configuration.
  • The Number of Power supply kits are equal to, or greater than, the fully supported configuration.
  • The BIOS version is supported (either 2.7 or 2.8).
  • The Verify that the two hard disks are in slots 1 and 2.
  • The Detect whether any SS7 cards are present.

Host Checker for PSX SWe

Important

The PSX SWe run only on servers using Intel processor.

KVM

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available to install the PSX Standalone (SA) on SWe (KVM):

  • vCPU: 4 cores
  • vMemory: 16 GB
  • Disk: 1 disk of 180 GB
  • vNIC: 1

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available to install PSX High Availability (HA) on SWe (KVM):

  • vCPU: 4 cores
  • vMemory: 16 GB
  • vNIC = 5
  • vHDD:
    • 450 GB (VM1), 450 GB (VM2)
    • SAN: 480 GB
    • Additional Drives: 7 External Drives on storage array.

VMware

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available to install PSX Standalone (SA) on SWe (VMware):

  • CPU: 4 cores
  • Memory: 16 GB
  • Disk: 1 disk of 180 GB
  • vNIC: 1

The PSX SWe on a VMware does not support High Availability (HA).

OpenStack

The Host Checker is not required to run PSX in OpenStack environment as it is being deployed with QCOW2 image.

Host Checker for EMS SWe

Important

The EMS SWe run only on servers using Intel processor.

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available to install the EMS Standalone (SA) on SWe (KVM and VMware):

  • vCPU: 4 cores
  • vMemory: 8 GB
  • vDisk: 1 disk of 300 GB
  • vNIC: 1

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available to install the EMS High Availability (HA) on SWe (KVM and VMware):

  • vCPU: 4 cores
  • vMemory: 8 GB
  • vDisks: 3 disks: First disk is on the local disk or on SAN. The 2 shared disks are on SAN.
    • Disk #1: 250 GB (OS & EMS pkgs - see partition scheme below)
    • Disk #2: 60 GB (shared disk for EMS files)
    • Disk #3: 90 GB (shared disk for Oracle ASM files)
  • vNICs: 2 (1 Public + 1 Private)

Host Checker for DSI SWe

Important

The DSI SWe run only on servers using Intel processor.

KVM

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available to install the DSI Standalone (SA) on SWe (KVM):

  • vCPU = 4
  • vMemory (GB) = 8
  • vDisk (GB) = 300
  • vNICs = 1

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available to install the DSI High Availability (HA) on SWe (KVM):

  • vCPU = 4
  • vMemory (GB) = 8
  • vDisk (GB) - 300 GB (VM1), 300 GB (VM2)
  • vNICs - 4 (2 Public +2 Private)
  • SAN Disk - 50 GB
  • Additional Drives - 7 External Drives on storage array.

VMWare

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available to install the DSI Standalone (SA) on SWe (VMWare):

  • vCPU = 4
  • vMemory (GB) = 8
  • vDisk (GB) = 300
  • vNICs = 1

The Host Checker utility ensures that the following resources are available to install the DSI High Availability (HA) on SWe (VMWare):

  • vCPU = 4
  • vMemory (GB) = 8
  • vDisk (GB) - 300 GB (VM1), 300 GB (VM2)
  • vNICs - 4 (2 Public +2 Private)
  • SAN Disk - 50 GB
  • Additional Drives - 7 External Drives on storage array.

Telco Switch Verification

The Host Checker tool checks if the Telco switch is turned ON or not if the iLO firmware version 1.20 is installed. If not, install the application ISO file and upgrade the firmware to run the HostCheck script in the Standalone mode

CD-ROM Support on HP DL380pGen8

Important

Ribbon do not support CD-ROM drive on the servers, because the CD-ROM interferes with the application installation process. Remove or disable the CD-ROM from the BIOS before installing the application ISO file.

The following error is displayed if a CD-ROM is present in the server during ISO installation:

Disabling CD-ROM on HP DL380pGen8 Server

Perform the following procedure to disable CD-ROM drive on HP DL380pGen8 server:

  1. Reboot the HP DL380pGen8 server.
  2. Press F9 to enter HP DL380pGen8s BIOS utility.

    Reboot - Setup

    The ROM-Based Setup Utility screen appears.

  3. Select the PCI Device Enable/Disable option.

    CD-ROM Driver Enabled

  4. Select Embedded next to  the Inter (R) SATA Controller #1 option and press Enter.

  5. Select Disabled and press Enter.

    Ensure that the status of Inter (R) SATA Controller #1 shows Disabled.

  6. Press Esc to navigate back to main screen.

  7. Press Esc again and press F10 to save the changes and exit the BIOS utility.

    You have now disabled the CD-ROM drive on HP DL380pGen8 server.
