Overview

The Sonus SS7 Signaling Database (SDA) provides the Sonus Signaling System with the capability to independently define and deploy the Service Handlers and Services to achieve specific routing functions within a signaling network.

SDA is a flexible routing function that resides within the Sonus Signaling System to allow targeted routing of messages within the signaling network. This SDA function is provided within an architectural framework that permits independent definition and deployment of new protocol applications and intelligent services without interrupting existing applications and functions. The targeted routing of messages is accomplished using a series of message filtering algorithms, specific protocol routing applications (Service Handlers), and general user data applications (Services).

To determine if a Service Handler is applied to a Service, the signaling messages are filtered in the Sonus Signaling Gateway Screening AppID Redirection and the Sonus Signaling Gateway SFG UA applications. See related Sonus SS7 Signaling documents, SS7 Application Guide 1 and SS7 Application Guide 2.

The following figure provides a top level architectural view of the SDA system.

SDA Monitoring

SDA monitoring allows you to check the status (availability) of routing data within the SDA application. You can use this information to determine the ability of a Service to function and perform effectively in SDA.

In the event where both DSS processors are unavailable, an alarm is raised to indicate the offline status of the processors. See alarms 7400 and 7401 in the Alarms Guide for more information.
