The following procedure provides you with instructions to roll back the DSC 8000 software to a previous software version.

Note

The screen captures in this page are examples only and are the same between releases with the exception of the software version numbers in these screen captures.

To roll back to a previous software version

Check the current status of the CPU, Ethernet Switch (MCH), and I/O cards in the system from the Software Revisions menu before performing the Rollback.

  1. Log onto one of the Management CPU cards on the Sonus DSC 8000 (slot 2, p19p1.3 or slot 13, p19p2.5).

  2. At the Linux prompt, enter startmenu, and press ENTER.

  3. Select System, and press ENTER.

  4. Select Software Revisions, and ENTER.

  5. Select Express Rollback, and press ENTER.

    The software loads that are available to rollback to (previous s/w) are listed below the slot status report for the shelf.

  6. Enter the required software version to which you want to roll back (in this example, enter 1 for 15.0.0), and press ENTER.

    Tip

    In the preceding step, if the express rollback analysis phase presents more than one choice of software to rollback to, there may be a software load mismatch scenario. The Express Rollback may be executed to get the system back to the required load; however, manual steps may be required to recover all CPUs. If you require help with establishing the correct software load that you want to roll back to, contact Customer Support.



            

  7. Enter c, and press ENTER to continue. The software is rolled back for the I/Os, the Ethernet Switches, and the CPUs.

    The system automatically executes the rollback process; therefore, no input is required.


    The rollback sequence is I/O, Ethernet Switch, and CPU cards.


            

    Each CPU card is rebooted individually after the rollback. If the rollback process was executed from the Management CPU in slot 2, then this is the last CPU rollback performed in the sequence. Depending on the number of CPU cards present in the chassis, the rollback may take an extended period of time to complete.

         

  8. Make sure the rollback was successful (see To verify that the rollback has been performed correctly)

    After the CPU rollback process is complete, the system may automatically reboot and you have to log onto the system again to continue your session.

To verify that the rollback has been performed correctly (Example)

Caution

If an asterisk appears beside any of the system cards during the verification process, the rollback for the respective card was unsuccessful. In this case, it is recommended that you contact Customer Support.

  1. Log onto one of the Management CPU cards on the Sonus DSC 8000 (slot 2, p19p1.3 or slot 13, p19p2.5).

  2. At the Linux prompt, enter startmenu, and press ENTER.

  3. Select System, and press ENTER.

  4. Select Software Revisions, and press ENTER.

  5. Select CPU Versions, and press ENTER.

  6. Make sure that the software and OS has been rolled back, all cards are running the same software, and that there is no asterisk beside any of the cards.

    The output of the “CPU Versions” command shows that the CPU card has “UPGRADED” status if this is the first time the command is issued after an upgrade. All subsequent “CPU Versions” commands show the number of processes running on each CPU.

  7. Without entering a selection, press ENTER twice to navigate to the Software Revisions menu.
     
  8. To confirm the IO cards are also running the same software and OS as the CPU cards, select IO Versions and press ENTER.
     
  9. Without entering a selection, press ENTER twice to display the Software Revisions menu.
     

  10. To confirm the Ethernet Switch cards are also running the same software and OS as the CPU cards, select Switch Version, and press ENTER.
     

  11. Without entering a selection, press ENTER twice to display the Software Revisions menu.
