Log Exchange (LX) can act as a syslog server for Ribbon products to captures SIP call routing messages and SBC system logging messages. The following platforms are supported:
- SBC Edge (1000/2000/SWe Lite)
- SBC Core (5000/7000/SWe)
- VX series gateways
Configure Ribbon Product
In order for the LX to receive logging information, the Ribbon product must first be configured correctly. The following are links to the appropriate sections for each system.
SBC Edge (1000/2000/SWe Lite)
For the SBC Edge, configure the Remote Log Server to send logging information to the machine running the LX. For details, see Managing Remote Log Servers.
SBC Core (5000/7000/SWe)
For the SBC Core, configure the Event Log to send logging information to the machine running the LX. For details, see Event Log - Type Admin.
For the VX Series, configure the Logging Information to send logging information to the machine running the LX. For details, see.
The only action needed on the LX is to set the Listening Port.
Multiple instances of the LX can be run to listen for syslogs in different ports, IPs, and transports without any performance impact.
To set the Listening Port
From the main menu, click Syslog Server
From the Listen IP drop-down menu, select either the IPv4 or IPv6 address.
From the Transport drop-down menu, select either the UDP or TCP transport method.
In the Listen Port textbox, enter a port number.
The default port number is 514. Port 514 is the port over which the UX transmits syslog traffic.
Click Start Listening to begin capturing syslog traffic.
