This section contains information on site planning and requirements for installing the SBC 5400 system.

Site Environmental Requirements

The following table lists the environmental requirements for the SBC 5400 platform.

Table : Site Environmental Requirements

Server Access Clearance

A minimum clearance of 36 inches in front of and behind the chassis for maintenance access as well as air flow.

Short-Term* Operating

  • 5% to 90% non-condensing, but not to exceed 0.024 kg of water per kg of dry air (0.053 lbs. water/2.205 lbs. dry air).

Full-Term Operating

  • 5% to 85%

  • Up to 93% non-condensing 100.4°F (37.7°C) maximum wet bulb.

41°F to 104°F (5°C to 40°C) up to 6,000 feet (1,829 meters)
Short-Term*: 28°F to 131°F (-5°C to 55°C) up to 6,000 feet (1,829 meters).

-40°F to 158°F (-40°C to 70°C)

-197 feet to 6,000 feet (-60 to 1,800 meters) at 104°F (40°C).
5,900 feet to 13,100 feet (1,800 to 4,000 meters) at 86°F (30°C)

Rack Space

Width: 17.16 inch excluding mounting ears
Height: 3.44 inch to fit in 2RU (3.5 inch)
Depth: 21-inch, excluding cable bend radius
Weight: 50 pounds
Mounts in 19-inch or 23-inch racks

Vibration Profiles

0.1G, 5-100Hz, 0.1 Oct/min
0.1G (x,y axis); 0.15G (z axis), 5-500Hz, 1 Oct/min

5-20 Hz 0.01 g2/Hz and 20-200 Hz - 3dB/octave

*  Short-Term is defined as 96 consecutive hours or less and not more than 15 days in a year.

Site Power Requirements

The following table lists the SBC 5400 system power requirements for both AC and DC power options:

Table : SBC 5400 System Power Requirements

SBC 5400

DC Option

Operational DC Voltage (Nominal)

Operational DC voltage (Minimal)

Operational DC voltage (Maximum)

DC Input Treatment

Isolated DC Return

Maximum DC Current

36.2 A

AC Option

Operational AC Voltage (Nominal)

100-120 VAC @ 50-60 Hz
200-240 VAC @ 50-60 Hz

Maximum AC Current

12 A / 7 A

Power Cord

An AC power cord is included in SBC shipments for SBCs equipped with AC power supplies.

(North American 15 A 125 VOLT NEMA 5-15P to IEC C19 Connector)

BondingBonded to a grounding system utilizing either an Isolated Bonding Network
(Isolated Ground) or a Common Bonding Network (Integrated Ground).

SBCs shipped with AC power supplies include a customer-selectable, country-specific power cord that is chosen during the system quoting process.  The example above is a North American power cord (15 amp 125 volt NEMA 5-15P to IEC C19 connector), which is one of the selections.
