The UX Web Interface includes a built-in step-by-step setup configuration wizard allowing end-users to quickly deploy UX and Lync Server 2010.

This functionality is accessible in the WebUI via the Tasks tab under Microsoft© UC Setup > Lync™ 2010 Setup.

The wizard produces two different configurations depending on the desired deployment. MS Lync Server 2010 Deployment reguires MTLS to be used as the SIP Transport on the Enhanced Media Gateway. In order to comply with Microsoft Lync 2010 Enhance Media Gateway Certification requirements, both the Trusted Root CA and the CA signed UX node certificate must be imported into the UX system. Before you proceed with the final #Lync 2010 Setup step, please follow these prerequisite steps:

Step 1 - Trusted CA's

In this step, you will need to obtain a trusted root certificate from your CA, and import it on the UX.

If you are using a Standalone Windows Certificate Authority, you may follow the instructions outlined in Downloading a CA Certificate using a Standalone Windows CA.

Once downloaded, import the trusted CA on the UX, and proceed to the next step.

Step 2 - Generate CSR

In this step, you'll need to generates a certificate signing request from UX to send it to the Trusted CA for signing.

(info) The Common Name field should be of the form Host.Domain specified as specified while Running Initial Setup.

(warning) Important Note: the Subject Alternative Name DNS field should not be entered unless required by your Lync 2010 setup.

If you are using a Standalone Windows Certificate Authority, you may send your certificate signing request to the CA by following the instructions outlined in Requesting a Signed Certificate using a Standalone Windows CA. Once you have obtained your signed certificate, you may proceed with the final prerequisite step.

Step 3 - UX Certificate

In this step, you will install the signed certificate on UX. To do this, you may follow the instructions outlined in Importing a UX Server Certificate.

Step 4 - Lync 2010 Setup

This step is the final configuration deployment by the setup wizard, and it supports the following deployments:

Helpful Tip

Usage of the deployment wizard to configure the UX does not modify existing configuration. The wizard will simply add the new configuration elements to the UX.
