Use tools and procedures in this section to establish the VX node Ethernet adapter set, and to access configuration tools for IP interfaces.

View Ethernet Adapters

Select the Networking a Ethernet Adapters subdirectory for the VX node and view contents at the Ethernet Adapters screen.

Add Ethernet Adapters

Insert a new line in the Ethernet Adapters screen, then double-click the line to present the Edit Adapters dialog box.

Modify Ethernet Adapters

Double-click on an entry in the Ethernet Adapters screen to present the Edit IP Interfaces dialog box.

Field

Description

Adapter #

Number of the adapter. This entry is displayed in the Adapter column of the table.

Enabled

Drop-down selection range from which to set adapter as either enabled or disabled. This entry is displayed in the Enabled column of the table.

Desc

Arbitrary field in which to type a description for the adapter.

If this field is set to a non-empty value, the SNMP subsystem uses this value to replace the default description of the 'ifDesc' MIB of the 'ifTable' and 'ifXTable'.

Link Speed

Operation speed of the Ethernet adapter

SNMP Name

Name of this adapter used by Simple Network Management Protocol

This name will appear in response to SNMP request for 'ifName' MIB of the 'ifTable' and 'ifXTable'.

SNMP Alias

Management shortcut for this adapter used by Simple Network Management Protocol

This name will appear in response to SNMP request for 'ifAlias' MIB of the 'ifTable' and 'ifXTable'.
