Unified Communications Configuration

To configure this Unified Communications scenario, we need to configure the Microsoft Exchange Server, the Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS), and the Mediation Server.

Unified Communications User General Properties

The user in this scenario, John Smith, is typically created on the Exchange Server. You can verify the user properties from Active Directory as shown in the screenshot below.

Additional phone number information is contained in the Telephones tab as shown below.

E-Mail information is defined in the E-Mail Addresses tab on the Exchange Server as shown below.

With the user configured, you can now view this profile from the Microsoft Office Communications Server OCS > Users link in the navigation pane as shown below.

OCS User Options

Double click the user listing and click Configuration to display the User Options screen as shown below.

Make sure Enable Enterprise Voice is selected.

Configuring the Office Communications Server

From the OCS server, double click the Forest icon, and select Properties > Voice Properties to display the OCS Voice Properties screen as shown below.

Normalizing the Phone Number

Double click the Location Profile and select Normalization Rule to display the Edit Phone Number Normalization Rule screen as shown below.

To configure the Mediation server, select the server to display the General properties tab as shown below. Using this as a guide, configure your Mediation server appropriately.
