After you successfully install WRTC, on your system you can access the  WRTC web application that comes bundled with the  WRTC package. This section lists the  WRTC features implemented in the web application along with step-by-step instructions.

The following table lists the prequisites of the Web applications and their follow-up services:

Instant Messaging

WRTC users must be online to communicate with each other.

  • Send and receive instant messages from another WRTC user.
  • Add emotion icons in IM.
  • Setup, modify, and tear down the IM sessions with another WRTC user.

Instant Messaging service can be upgraded to Group Chat.

Group Chat

WRTC users must have ongoing IM sessions and then add a participant for group chat.

Group Chat session is created when a WRTC user invites another WRTC user to a two party IM session.

Group Chat can be upgraded to P2P conference when all the participants upgrade to either audio or video call by selecting the audio or video option.

Audio/Video call

WRTC users must install WRTC and log in to the WRTC application to make call or receive call.

One microphone and one camera are the minimum requirements to make or receive a call.

Enables a user to establish sessions with multiple media streams (audio, video). If the called user is in a different network, a STUN reflexive IP address behind NAT is used to establish the call session.

The following call services are available:

  • Audio call
  • Video call
  • Call Transfer
  • Call pickup
  • Device Transfer

The audio/video call can be upgraded to conference call or video conference call.

Desktop Share

File share

Before sharing your computer screen with other WRTC users, you must download an extension from Google Chrome store for screen sharing.

Enables WRTC users to perform the following task:

  • Share their desktops over web browsers.

Interworking of WebRTC IM with SIP Message                             WRTC users must have ongoing call or IM sessions.

Enables users to perform the following task:

  • Send or receive IM either within an ongoing dialog or out of dialog.

Advanced Browser to Browser Communication
P2P Conference

WRTC users must establish a group chat session and then upgrade to P2P conference by clicking audio or video option.

Enables multiple users to communicate with each other at the same time over an audio or a video call.
